Ranchi, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has officially declared the cancellation of the Class 10 Hindi (Course A and B) and Science examinations following the confirmation of a paper leak.

The Hindi examination occurred on February 18, while the Science paper was scheduled for the first shift on Thursday. The Council has indicated that new re-examination dates will be provided in due course.

On February 19, reports emerged regarding the Science paper leak, with the leaked content widely shared across social media platforms.

On Wednesday, student leader Devendra Nath Mahato presented a copy of the compromised question paper to JAC officials. When the exam commenced at 9:45 a.m., it was discovered that the paper matched the circulated leak, leading to immediate communication with the state government.

Subsequently, the government took administrative actions to annul the exam. JAC President Natwa Hansda announced the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the leak's origin.

Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari convened a high-level meeting on Thursday afternoon to deliberate on the incident. The government has committed to a comprehensive inquiry into the situation.

Prior to this, there were widespread speculations about a potential leak of the Hindi question paper. Student leader Mahato had also submitted a memorandum to the Council Secretary, raising concerns.

At that time, however, the Council had dismissed these claims as unsubstantiated and issued a notice urging students to ignore such rumors.

In an official statement, the JAC Secretary reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to conducting examinations with utmost transparency and confidentiality. The statement cautioned that misleading rumors about leaked papers were being propagated by anti-social elements attempting to exploit students and parents financially. Candidates were advised to consult the official JAC website for accurate information.

The Class 10 board examinations in Jharkhand commenced on February 11, with 1,297 examination centres established throughout the state. A total of 4,33,890 students are participating in the exams.

The exams were initially scheduled to conclude on March 3, but according to the revised timeline, they will now extend until March 4. However, due to the cancellation of the Science and Hindi papers, this timeline will further be adjusted.
