K.T. Rama Rao Calls for Justice After Infant's Murder at Kummera Jatara
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 25 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has vehemently denounced the brutal murder of a two-month-old baby during the Kummera Mallanna Jatara in the Nagarkurnool district of Telangana, demanding accountability from the assailants, regardless of their political affiliations.
Expressing that the entire society of Telangana is engulfed in sorrow and outrage over this horrific incident, he firmly stated that anyone who supports the killers of this innocent child bears responsibility for the crime.
KTR visited the grieving family in Kummera village and offered his condolences. He interacted with various leaders and activists who have been advocating for justice, demonstrating solidarity with the family affected by this tragedy.
The tragic event took place on February 18 when the family, identified as belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), was reportedly barred from entering the temple and subsequently assaulted by a group of individuals. The infant suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she tragically passed away on February 21.
The BRS leader emphasized that it is unacceptable for anyone, be it Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the local MLA, or the local MP, to condone the actions of those who took the child's life.
KTR demanded that stringent measures be taken, asserting that regardless of the alleged criminals’ identities or their political party, they must face legal consequences. He specifically called for the filing of homicide charges against the eight suspects involved in the assault and their immediate arrest.
Furthermore, KTR insisted that the state government provide Rs 1 crore in compensation to the bereaved family. He stressed the necessity of punishing the murderers, advocating for the death penalty if necessary, and declared that they should never be released.
Criticizing the state government’s inaction, KTR accused it of attempting to obscure the investigation by misusing power and influencing law enforcement. He deemed the government’s silence and the Chief Minister’s lack of response regarding such a heinous act as “inexcusable.”
KTR remarked that he came not only as a political figure but as a concerned father and community member to support the mourning family.
He described the circumstances surrounding the child’s death as an unfathomable tragedy. While calling for unity beyond political divides, he stressed that everyone—media, political leaders, and citizens alike—has a duty to ensure justice is served.
In recounting the incident, KTR mentioned that Chandrakala’s family was simply seeking to pay their respects at the Mallanna Swamy Jatara when they were viciously attacked, an act that has shamed humanity. He stated that the Kummera incident has left the entire Telangana community in deep sorrow.
KTR expressed his concern that even in the 21st century, caste and religious discrimination continues to perpetrate violence. He labeled it disgraceful that efforts are being made to protect the killers through political influence.
He alleged that a mob of 20-25 individuals assaulted Ganesh’s family, and despite their desperate pleas to spare the child, the attackers fatally injured the infant in a particularly savage manner.
