Hyderabad, July 19 (NationPress) Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh is set to take the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court this Saturday. This transfer was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 28.
The Union Government has transferred Justice Singh, who previously served as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, to Telangana as of Monday.
Justice Singh will be succeeding Justice Sujoy Paul, who has been reassigned to the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Singh took his oath as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court on April 17, 2023, after serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court in 2022.
Born on July 7, 1965, Justice Singh earned his BA Honours and LLB degrees from the University of Delhi. His roots are steeped in the judiciary, as his maternal great-grandfather, the late B.P. Sinha, served as the sixth Chief Justice of India.
His legal career began in 1990, when he practiced as an advocate at the Patna High Court for a decade. Following the establishment of the Jharkhand High Court in 2001, he continued his practice there until his appointment to the Bench.
Justice Singh was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court on January 24, 2012, and became a permanent judge on January 16, 2014.
In April 2021, he assumed the role of executive chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority.
He served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court from December 20, 2022, to February 19, 2023, before becoming the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court on April 17, 2023.
Additionally, the Union government announced on Monday the transfers of Chief Justices from the Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Madras High Courts.
