K. Kavitha Accuses Telangana Government of Mortgaging Musi Lands to World Bank
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 15 (NationPress) K. Kavitha, the leader of Telangana Jagruthi, has raised serious concerns regarding the state government's alleged plan to mortgage the Musi River lands to the World Bank under the guise of a development project for the Musi Riverfront.
She has called for transparency, urging the government to clarify how this project will serve the public's interests.
Addressing the media, Kavitha pointed out that the absence of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) suggests the government may be concealing crucial information.
Additionally, she announced her intention to file a defamation lawsuit against A.V. Ranganath, the Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), for making certain accusations about her.
Kavitha reminded Ranganath of his previous claims regarding Aditya Constructions' land encroachment and how he attempted to discredit her following her protests against those allegations.
She issued a warning that if Ranganath does not take down the videos he posted by this evening, she will pursue legal action.
“Until recently, there was a firm stance on demolishing any structures even 30 meters from the Musi riverbed. Just days ago, we protested at a private site, highlighting that construction is occurring right in the heart of the Musi River. Typically, HYDRAA officials remain silent, but after our demonstration, they shared five videos on their official X account,” she remarked.
Kavitha noted that they have submitted six formal complaints with supporting evidence to Ranganath, yet no action has been taken.
“It seems that you are selectively targeting the homes of the less fortunate while ignoring the properties of the affluent,” she stated.
“Are you only interested in discrediting those who speak the truth? Is your government merely a team of graphic designers or content creators?” she questioned.
Kavitha emphasized that the Musi River rejuvenation project should truly serve the public's interest.
Pointing out that the previous administration had denied construction permissions within the Musi riverbed, she demanded to know why such permissions are being granted now.
“What dubious dealings or manipulations lie behind these approvals?” she asked.
She accused the Congress government of creating significant distress for the public since taking office.
Regarding the demolition of poor families' homes in Velugumatla, Khammam, she announced plans to form a fact-finding committee on March 17.
Kavitha reiterated that their fight will persist until justice is achieved and relief is provided to all affected individuals.
