Kavitha Claims Musi Project is a Scheme to Displace Residents for Real Estate Interests

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha asserted on Wednesday that the Musi Riverfront Development Project serves as a scheme to displace thousands of residents for the benefit of real estate investors.
She affirmed that the BRS will advocate for the rights of those who face eviction due to the project.
In her statement to the media, she highlighted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy himself had suggested that the Musi project would cost an astounding Rs 1.5 lakh crore, yet the state government is pursuing a loan of Rs 4,100 crore from the World Bank and has also requested Rs 14,100 crore from the BJP-led central government.
Presenting key documents related to the project, she criticized it as lacking clarity, transparency, and a compensation strategy for those who would be forced to relocate.
She accused Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu of misleading the assembly by providing false information, claiming that no assistance was sought from the World Bank for the Musi project and that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) was incomplete.
On September 19, the Congress party announced that the DPR was finalized and sought Rs 4,100 crore from the World Bank. On October 4, the government authorized hiring consultants for the DPR, while on December 17, it denied the existence of the DPR in the Assembly.
"This illustrates the timeline of numerous lies, loans, and hypocrisy of the Congress government. This is Congress's 'vision' for Telangana. Stop mortgaging our State's future!" she expressed on the social media platform X.
Kavitha revealed the proposal submitted to the World Bank, which indicates that the DPR was indeed ready. This proposal was sent to the World Bank on September 19.
"Now, they are disseminating false information to the public and the Legislature claiming there is no DPR," she alleged, asserting that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is mortgaging Telangana and Hyderabad to the World Bank.
Kavitha, the daughter of BRS leader and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, contended that the government is "concealing" the facts regarding the project.
She mentioned that during its decade in power, the BRS had never sought a loan from the World Bank. "However, within just one year of the Congress party taking office, CM Revanth Reddy is attempting to mortgage Telangana and Hyderabad to the World Bank," she stated.
The BRS leader claimed that the Chief Minister is attempting to seize the land of impoverished individuals around the Musi River and mortgage it to the World Bank for real estate development.
She noted that in the proposal sent to the World Bank on September 19, the project was referred to as the Musi Riverfront Development project, whereas Minister Sridhar Babu falsely claimed that the World Bank loan was intended for sewage treatment.
Kavitha pointed out that the government indicated in the proposal that multistory buildings would be developed through real estate and land pooling.
Even after the proposal was sent to the World Bank in September, the government announced a consortium to prepare the DPR.
"Whom is the government deceiving? For whose benefit is this project being constructed?" she questioned.
The BRS leader expressed that residents living near the Musi River are engulfed in fear. She indicated that markings had been made on 15,000 houses in these neighborhoods, causing residents to worry about imminent eviction.
