Karnataka BJP Protests Against Congress Over Maternal Deaths, Demands Rs 25 Lakh Aid for Victims' Families

Shivamogga (Karnataka), Jan 4 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP conducted a major protest in Shivamogga on Saturday, criticizing the Congress government for its "anti-people" actions that have led to a rise in maternal deaths across the state.

The BJP expressed its anger over the government's lack of concern, stating that even with numerous maternal and newborn fatalities from underprivileged families and public outcries about these incidents, the Congress administration has not implemented effective measures.

The party cautioned that the collective grievances of the populace and the impoverished would ultimately bear down on the government for its negligence.

At the protest organized by the BJP Women's Wing, State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra called upon Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to promptly declare a minimum aid of Rs 25 lakh for the families of deceased mothers if he possesses any sense of humanity or respect for his office.

Vijayendra insisted that State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar should resign from their positions.

He stressed that the state government ought to support the orphaned children, stating, "Only then can God forgive you."

He accused the Congress government of being intoxicated with power, asserting that it was the BJP's duty to combat this corrupt and negligent regime.

Vijayendra noted that the BJP Women's Wing has been conducting protests statewide to highlight the maternal and newborn death issue.

Moreover, he reiterated the demand for the state government to immediately announce a Rs 25 lakh compensation package and take accountability for the welfare of the children.

"This disgraceful administration must be reprimanded through the BJP's persistent efforts," he declared.

Vijayendra also mentioned that a letter would be dispatched to the National Human Rights Commission to draw attention to this situation and hold the state government responsible.

He assured that the BJP would strive to secure justice for the affected families.

He urged the state government to awaken and meet their demands without delay.

Present at the protest were MLA S.N. Channabasappa, MLC Dhananjay Sarji, state coordinators of various BJP units including S. Dattatri, District President T.D. Megharaj, BJP Women's Wing District President Gayathri Devi, Medical Cell Coordinator Hemant, along with numerous party members and activists.
