Karnataka BJP to Address Waqf Issues and Maternal Mortality on Winter Session's Opening Day

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 9 (NationPress) The BJP in Karnataka revealed on Monday that it plans to highlight the matters concerning the Waqf dispute and rising maternal deaths throughout the state as the Assembly's winter session begins today.
In a statement to the press, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka, remarked, "The Belagavi winter session is starting today. During this period, we will address the controversies surrounding the Waqf and the alarming maternal deaths occurring in the state due to the influence of the medical mafia."
He added, "There is a lack of oversight in government departments. Reports indicate that five to six maternal deaths have occurred due to negligence, with hundreds of newborns also perishing. In Belagavi alone, 325 newborns have died. I visited the hospital in Belagavi yesterday, and our party leaders are also visiting the facility today."
"Mothers are dying after childbirth, and the Chief Minister has completely lost control over the state's administration. These tragedies are evident across all government sectors," Ashoka stated.
"The government has failed to initiate any development projects. During the Congress's 17-month tenure, it has been embroiled in numerous scandals, including the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, tribal welfare scandal, liquor scandal, and now the issue of maternal deaths linked to the medical lobby," he continued.
He firmly asserted, "There is absolutely no progress being made."
"Additionally, the government has instigated the Waqf board controversy. Throughout its term, the administration has been caught up in one controversy after another. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is serving his second term, is failing to provide effective governance," Ashoka criticized.
He highlighted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself is entangled in the MUDA case and is under investigation. The government appears to be in a state of deep slumber, he charged.
"None of the ministers are conducting grievance meetings in their constituencies. Their sole focus seems to be on making money. They only attend Vidhana Soudha on Thursdays and show little interest in visiting otherwise," he condemned.
During the session, the topics of the cancellation of ration cards and BPL cards, as well as the Rs 700 crore liquor scam, will also be addressed.
Questions will be raised regarding the state government's promises and actual progress related to the development of the North Karnataka region, Ashoka noted.
He pointed out that CM Siddaramaiah had vowed to transform North Karnataka into a prosperous area, but that statement has turned into a mockery. There are no funds remaining for any irrigation projects in the region," he emphasized.
Ashoka labeled the CM Siddaramaiah-led government as the worst in the state's history.
