Karnataka: 'Recent Actions by Congress Government on Waqf Issues and Maternal Mortality Mark a Triumph for BJP'

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka's Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka, remarked on Saturday that the Congress-led administration's decision to create committees to investigate the Waqf issue and maternal mortality during the recent winter session represents a notable triumph for the BJP.
During a press briefing at Vidhana Soudha, Ashoka asserted that "the presentation of evidence in the Assembly regarding the Waqf board's encroachment on Hindu and farmer properties has resulted in a substantial victory."
"Under pressure from the BJP's advocacy, the government has opted to establish a committee. Moreover, the instances of maternal deaths have been referred for judicial scrutiny," he stated.
The Belagavi session was originally slated for 10 days but was shortened to nine days owing to the Kannada Literary Festival.
The BJP deliberated on matters such as the Waqf issue, maternal mortality, funding irregularities, and challenges pertinent to North Karnataka, he noted.
"I delivered a two-hour speech in the Assembly, providing comprehensive evidence regarding the Waqf Board's situation. I elaborated on how the British, from their reign to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's administration, systematically exploited Muslims as a voting bloc,” Ashoka mentioned.
"Rather than hoisting the national flag, a green flag is being raised. In Bidar, a village covering 560 acres has been designated as Waqf Board property. After presenting all this evidence, the government conceded and pledged to establish a committee led by a retired judge," Ashoka emphasized, adding: "This marks a victory for the BJP's struggle. Farmers who have experienced injustice can now voice their concerns. We have advanced the Waqf Board matter to a reasonable conclusion."
He further stated: "The Assembly extensively reviewed maternal and neonatal fatalities. I provided evidence concerning expired medications and called for the resignation of the health minister. The government has consented to a judicial investigation into this matter, which is yet another victory for the BJP's initiatives in the Assembly.
"Over 30 BJP MLAs voiced their concerns regarding issues impacting North Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should cease making hollow promises. In the previous session, he spoke for more than an hour and a half, declaring industrial projects for regions like Bidar, Dharwad, Vijayapura, and Kalaburagi."
