Bengaluru, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress-led state government on Tuesday, asserting that instead of focusing on the teachers who mold children's futures, they are merely playing games with them.

During a visit to the protesting guest teachers at Freedom Park, State BJP President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra, condemned the government's actions, labeling it as an unforgivable offense not to respond to the teaching community.

Vijayendra highlighted the need for the state government to show humanity towards guest teachers, emphasizing their vital role in education.

He expressed his solidarity with the protesting teachers, confirming that he and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, were there to support them.

The BJP leader promised to advocate for the teachers' rights and hold the Congress government accountable.

Previously, the BJP government had raised the guest teachers' honorarium from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 and then to Rs 10,000, as outlined in their manifesto.

Vijayendra asserted that guest teachers are essential to the future of the state and that their basic demands deserve attention.

He also pointed out the necessity for paid maternity leave for expectant female teachers, questioning how they could be expected to work without proper leave.

Vijayendra stated that the universities established during the previous BJP administration require funding between Rs 300 crore and Rs 400 crore, yet the Congress government claims a lack of funds while attempting to close these educational institutions.

At the event, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy backed the demand for a salary hike for guest teachers, assuring them that he would communicate their concerns to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh.

He also noted that data entry operators have gone unpaid for seven to eight months, with some approaching his office for assistance.

He criticized the Congress government for corruption, questioning the misallocation of funds intended for teachers.

Members of the Karnataka State Government Primary and High School Guest Teachers' Association are currently engaged in a significant indefinite protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, advocating for the fulfillment of various demands related to guest teachers.

During the protest, BJP leader Vijayendra and LoP Chalavadi Narayanaswamy participated in the demonstrations.
