Bengaluru, February 28 (NationPress) The second Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations for Class 12 conducted by the Karnataka Department of Pre-University Education commenced on Saturday, with 7,10,363 students registered at 1,217 centers throughout the state. The examinations are scheduled to run until March 17.
In a message to the students, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked, "Wishing all students across the state the very best for their second PUC exams. Tackle your exams with self-assurance, and I hope you achieve not just excellent results but also a prosperous future ahead."
R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader, also extended his wishes, stating, "I wish every student the best for their second PUC exams. Advance with confidence, strong conviction, and thorough preparation, and may success find you."
On the opening day, the Kannada and Arabic papers were administered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Authorities have established a 200-meter exclusion zone around all examination centers to deter any malpractices. Local photocopy shops, cyber cafes, and computer stores have been ordered to close during exam hours.
However, confusion emerged in Yadgir as some students struggled to find their exam centers due to inconsistencies between their hall ticket addresses and the actual locations. Those arriving from nearby villages often searched for several hours before reaching Saba PU College with assistance from local residents.
Comprehensive security measures have been instituted statewide, including the installation of CCTV cameras in every exam hall, and webcasting is being utilized to monitor the proceedings, overseen by district commissioners and police superintendents.
The police are closely monitoring social media to curb the spread of misinformation, with special attention given to individuals previously involved in exam-related misconduct.
Question papers are being transported under strict police surveillance, with video recording of the dispatch process. Opening the question papers before the scheduled time is strictly forbidden, and legal actions will be taken against violators. Anyone involved in any irregularities regarding the papers will face severe consequences. The possession of mobile phones, watches, and other electronic devices is banned within exam centers for students, staff, and officials.
Unauthorized individuals are prohibited from entering, and bringing explosive materials into restricted areas is strictly forbidden.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, in collaboration with college administrations, is ensuring the seamless conduct of the exams with robust security measures, enabling students to undertake their examinations without any interruptions.
