Why Did K’taka BJP Object to Pakistan's Reaction on Bengaluru Demolition?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP expressed serious concerns on Wednesday following a response from Pakistan regarding the demolition issue in Bengaluru, asserting that the comments from the neighboring nation pose national security risks.
“What led Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister to be aware of a demolition operation in Bengaluru? It seems they might have received a tip-off from someone here. Perhaps a sleeper cell or a terrorist has informed them,” Ashoka asserted.
“How could information reach Pakistan within a day of the demolition? This suggests the presence of terrorists in our midst,” he claimed.
Ashoka also criticized the visit from a Kerala MP to the demolition site, stating that a minority MP from Kerala hastily arrived there.
“He should have been detained and prosecuted. Why is the government not taking action against him?” he questioned.
He accused the Congress government of yielding to political pressure due to upcoming elections in Kerala, alleging that the Congress is compromising Karnataka's interests for electoral gains.
Ashoka mentioned he holds documentation indicating that housing allotment for 13,999 flood-affected victims in the state remains unresolved.
“This administration is incapable of providing shelter for flood victims. They are forced to live outdoors and without electricity. Yet, here, food is prepared, and electricity connections are granted without any shame,” he alleged.
Addressing officials from the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), he remarked, “Aren’t you embarrassed? Do you lack compassion? How could you issue power connections here?”
He claimed that insulated wiring was used at the site, while unprotected wires are present even near his residence.
“Are there any electricity meters installed here? If an accident occurs, it will make international headlines,” he warned.
Ashoka went on to allege that while the government threatens demolition for minor infringements, officers who authorized encroachments are now being interrogated.
“If this becomes the standard, how will the government execute demolition drives anywhere in the state?” he queried.
Referring to information provided by a Deputy Commissioner, Ashoka stated that demolition drives have occurred at approximately 40 locations, affecting around 150 to 200 acres, including the disputed area.
“Will the government construct homes for all these individuals? Many are local Kannadigas. Their plans received approval, they paid taxes, yet their homes were demolished,” he claimed.
He alleged that those resettled at the site are Bangladeshis, with no proof to substantiate their Indian citizenship.
“The residents assert they originated from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. But how did they arrive in those states in the first place?” he questioned.
Ashoka also launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, asserting that the government is operating under the influence of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal.
“The entire government has bowed to a single tweet,” he asserted.
He admonished the Chief Minister for sharing a platform with leaders from Kerala after Karnataka was labeled a “bulldozer state” by politicians from Kerala.
“What moral authority does Siddaramaiah have to continue as Chief Minister of Karnataka?” he challenged.
“By participating in events in Kerala, the Chief Minister has indirectly acknowledged that his administration is a bulldozer government. Kerala politicians term it bulldozer action, and Pakistan claims injustice and even uses the phrase ‘mob lynching’,” Ashoka alleged.
