Bengaluru, Nov 10 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, R. Ashoka, voiced his deep concern, claiming that the Karnataka government is indulging militants by offering them VIP treatment in prison. He challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to clarify the measures he plans to implement against these terrorists.
Addressing media after a protest near Race Course Road in Bengaluru, Ashoka stated that lavish accommodations are being provided to rapists and terrorists held at Bengaluru Central Prison, who are intent on undermining national unity.
“During the cooker bomb blast incident, they referred to these individuals as 'brother.' They even provided biryani to those who chanted 'Pakistan Zindabad.' Despite investing Rs 5 crore to install numerous CCTV cameras in the jail, they have mysteriously been turned off,” Ashoka claimed.
He raised doubts about how all cameras could simultaneously cease functioning.
“Bombs, meat, ganja, and mobile phones are entering the prison undetected. It is alarming that inmates are able to watch item songs on television,” he remarked.
“The Intelligence unit seems to lack any useful information. Inmates are using mobile devices to blackmail and generate revenue, seemingly with police complicity,” he asserted.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not requested any reports concerning the jail in the past two years. He approached the Supreme Court regarding actor Darshan’s smoking incident. However, he must clarify what stringent actions he intends to take against terrorists,” Ashoka stated.
“This is a Congress-backed initiative. A lenient approach towards Muslims has led to such issues, tarnishing the reputation of Karnataka. Even Bihar does not face such a scenario,” he maintained.
While vying for the Chief Minister's position, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara appears inactive. The police department has regressed, he added.
On Monday, the Karnataka BJP unit organized a protest condemning the emergence of alleged videos featuring radical elements, ISIS members, and criminals within Bengaluru Central Prison.
The BJP leaders, including State President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra, R. Ashoka, MLAs, MLCs, and former ministers attempted to gherao the Chief Minister's residence but were detained by law enforcement.
