Bengaluru, April 17 (NationPress) The Karnataka Congress organized protest demonstrations on Thursday against the Central government concerning the alleged price hikes, aiming to counter the BJP’s Janakrosh Yatra. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that lies are the BJP’s household 'gods'.

The BJP initiated a state-wide Janakrosh Yatra opposing price hikes and the Muslim quota, targeting the Congress government in the state.

The protest took place at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, where thousands of party supporters gathered, chanting slogans against the Central government and the BJP. The party showcased garlanded LPG cylinders on stage and displayed a comparison chart of essential commodity prices during the Congress-led UPA government versus the BJP’s term.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister and Congress state chief D.K. Shivakumar, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, along with cabinet ministers and party MLAs participated in the protest. All leaders wore black bands and held placards denouncing the Central government.

While addressing the crowd at Freedom Park regarding the alleged price hikes by the Centre, Siddaramaiah stated: “Politics is more than merely holding power. True political commitment is about standing with the people and continuously fighting with ideological clarity. Lies are the BJP’s household gods. The RSS is the grand factory of lies.”

He further remarked that Ambedkar himself stated that it was Veer Savarkar and Dhangey who defeated him, not the Congress.

“However, the BJP promotes the false narrative that Congress is to blame. We must muster the courage to speak the truth nationwide in response to the RSS's lies, the factory of falsehoods,” he asserted.

He added that the Narendra Modi government is dispersing false propaganda that our government is financially bankrupt to mask its anti-poor and anti-middle-class actions.

“If the government were bankrupt, how could it allocate Rs 56,000 crore annually for guarantees? We’ve raised the milk price by Rs 4, which directly benefits farmers, not the government. Yet, the Central government has raised gas prices multiple times, including a recent Rs 50 hike. Who benefits from this extra cash?” he questioned.

Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil alleged that since the BJP took control at the centre, the common people's lives have been significantly impacted.

“They have increased the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG. This is the reason behind today’s protest. There is no rationale for hiking fuel prices when international rates are low,” he noted.

Siddaramaiah’s Legal Advisor and MLA A.S. Ponnanna emphasized that the BJP excels at labeling.

“Janakrosh is directed against the BJP, not the ruling Congress party. The entire protest is aimed at them,” he claimed.

He further stated that public anger is directed towards the BJP and the Central government, not the Karnataka government.
