Karwar (Karnataka), April 11 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP's Janakrosh Yatra, launched in response to the Congress-led government's actions regarding price increases and reservations for Muslims in public work tenders, marked its fifth day on Friday. The party condemned the Siddaramaiah-led government for the unjust targeting of BJP workers throughout the state.

During a public meeting at the Janakrosh Yatra held in Yellapur, Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary asserted that BJP workers were being unfairly targeted statewide.

“BJP workers faced violence merely because a senior police official of the rank of Inspector General was visiting the coastal Karnataka area. Following this, FIRs were allegedly filed against 40 BJP workers. What kind of governance is this?” he questioned.

Poojary reminded the police that it was the BJP that had stood up for justice when 1 lakh police officers in the state faced injustice.

He criticized the Congress government, stating: “This administration is administratively dead — it is no longer functional.”

He claimed that the state's law and order had completely deteriorated.

In reference to the murder of Hindu activist Praveen Kumar Nettaru, he pointed out: “When the accused appeared in court with police presence, someone kissed him on the forehead. What actions is this government taking? Where is the Home Department?”

He questioned the police's silence regarding such incidents.

Poojary highlighted a recent event in Udayagiri, Mysuru, where a police station was set ablaze, asking: “Where is the law and order?”

He also questioned how a government that ought to prevent terrorists with hidden bombs can tolerate senior ministers calling such individuals “our brothers.”

“If this situation continues, where is the law and order?” he asked.

During a public gathering as part of the BJP's Janakrosh Yatra, BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra remarked that the BJP is not the one labeling the Congress government as corrupt — it is the Congress party's own MLA and Chief Minister’s Economic Advisor, Basavaraj Rayareddy, who has confirmed it.

Praising the strong turnout, he noted that the BJP initiated this campaign to raise public awareness against the Congress government's price hikes and corruption.

He criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for implementing a 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government contracts, describing it as an act of appeasement that disrespects Hindus.

Vijayendra also accused Siddaramaiah of diverting Rs 38,000 crore allocated for the SCSP (Scheduled Caste Sub Plan) and TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) — funds intended for Dalit development — to other uses, leading to public outrage.

Vijayendra claimed that Siddaramaiah has overseen the highest price hikes in the last 20 months of his governance. Rather than focusing on development, the Chief Minister has established an expert committee to suggest price increases for essential goods.

He further stated that the Congress is deceiving the public with promises of “guarantees,” while Siddaramaiah has raised prices on over 50 essential commodities in the past 20 months.

Vijayendra criticized Siddaramaiah for walking to the Krishna River before elections but failing to allocate any funds for irrigation projects once in power.

He similarly criticized Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for participating in the Mekedatu padayatra (protest march) before elections but neglecting the project after taking office.

He noted that under the Congress government, diesel prices have surged by Rs 7.50, severely affecting the cost of daily necessities. Farmers relying on diesel for tractors and other agricultural equipment are particularly impacted.

Vijayendra stated that while the Congress government promotes initiatives like “Shakti” (free bus travel for women), it owes Rs 6,500 crore to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). Thousands of government buses in rural regions have ceased operations, depriving students of transportation to educational institutions.

He also highlighted that the milk price hike of Rs 9 has made it hard for low-income families to provide nutritious meals for their children. “The Congress government gives with one hand and takes away with the other,” he claimed.
