Belagavi (Karnataka), April 16 (NationPress) - The BJP has initiated the second phase of the Janakrosh Yatra on Wednesday in Belagavi, targeting the Karnataka government over the rising prices and the allocation of quotas for Muslims in government contracts. The party asserted that the Congress will face defeat in 2028.

Former Chief Minister and BJP MP, Jagadish Shettar, condemned the state government, labeling it a disgrace, while referring to allegations of corruption related to a prize named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

During the public meeting that took place as part of the Janakrosh Yatra, Shettar stated, “Public discontent is escalating across the board. It is apparent that the Congress party will be ousted in 2028, allowing the BJP to reclaim power.”

He accused the government of failing to implement development initiatives, claiming that progress has reached a standstill.

“This administration operates solely on corruption. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must be contemplating the end of his political journey. Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar is poised to take over. Siddaramaiah must be daydreaming about whether this will occur in November or December,” he ridiculed.

Shettar further asserted that there is ongoing internal strife and a covert conflict within the Congress.

“Some members want Siddaramaiah to be replaced, while others prefer his continuation. Some MLAs are openly suggesting that D.K. Shivakumar should assume the Chief Minister role,” he noted.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, openly challenged CM Siddaramaiah, declaring, “If you can substantiate that Savarkar defeated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in an election, I will resign from my Opposition position immediately.”

Narayanaswamy demanded that if Siddaramaiah cannot validate his claim, he should be prepared to resign from the Chief Minister’s position.

“You are already advanced in age, you have held every significant role, and there is no higher position left for you in the Congress,” he commented.

Further critiquing the CM, he remarked, “Siddaramaiah, who was once a close ally, never lied like this, but now it seems that the only concern is maintaining power, regardless of the means.”

Referring to CM Siddaramaiah’s recent statement that Dr. Ambedkar himself claimed that Savarkar defeated him in an election, Narayanaswamy questioned, “Is there a more significant falsehood than this?”

Narayanaswamy alleged that CM Siddaramaiah was influenced by “Chhota Kharge” (Minister Priyank Kharge).

Narayanaswamy humorously remarked that “Mota Kharge” (referring to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge) was behind him.
