Bengaluru, April 7 (NationPress) - Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, is set to kick off the BJP’s Janakrosh Yatra on Monday in Mysuru, the home district of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The purpose of this Yatra is to spotlight what the BJP claims is widespread corruption under the Congress-led Karnataka administration.

During a media interaction in Bengaluru, BJP state president B.S. Vijayendra announced that the Yatra will be officially inaugurated by Joshi later today. “I will offer special prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari, along with other senior BJP leaders. All major party figures will participate in the Yatra,” he mentioned.

Vijayendra elaborated that the Janakrosh Yatra will unfold in four phases. “It starts today in Mysuru. Tomorrow, it will traverse Mandya in the morning and Hassan in the evening. On Wednesday, the Yatra will move to Madikeri and Mangaluru. This way, we have plans to reach every district in the state,” he added.

The BJP leader stated that the Yatra aims to unveil the Congress government on various fronts, such as rising prices, alleged anti-people policies, the 4 percent Muslim reservation, and what the BJP asserts is the misuse of funds under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and Tribal Sub Plan (SCSP/TSP).

When asked about the JD(S)’s absence from the Yatra, Vijayendra clarified that there was no discord among the coalition partners. “Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has also addressed this. Just because we are conducting separate protests does not indicate any disagreement. The BJP, as a national party, is carrying out this Yatra as planned,” he clarified.

He further mentioned that the JD(S) is organizing its own protests and has revealed its strategies accordingly. “There’s no conflict between the BJP and JD(S),” he reiterated.

Vijayendra dismissed claims that the Yatra was politically driven. “We don’t require validation from the ruling party. This movement is initiated in the interest of the public. There are no elections looming. When Congress initiated the Mekedatu Padyatra, it was right before the assembly elections. But this Yatra focuses on genuine issues that impact the people,” he articulated.

He accused the Congress administration of both economic and cultural shortcomings. “People are in distress due to inflation. Simultaneously, the government is disrespecting Hindus. We must bring these matters to the forefront,” he said.

In response to criticism that the BJP’s Yatra is intended to boost the party’s political standing, Vijayendra countered, “The BJP is the world’s largest political party. It is Congress that is in turmoil. They once flaunted winning over 400 Lok Sabha seats — look at their current situation. We lost Karnataka due to our own errors, not because of the Congress.”

Vijayendra also urged BJP workers and Hindu activists statewide to reach out to him if they face targeting by Congress leaders.

“Let them get in touch with me directly. We will offer legal assistance and guidance. It is our duty to support them. I encourage our workers not to fear the pressure tactics of the Congress party,” he stated.
