Bengaluru, Jan 22 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP stated on Wednesday that the internal disputes within the Congress party have resulted in the state being unrepresented at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Expressing concern over the lack of a delegate from Karnataka at this significant international gathering, the Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka, remarked, “While Chief Ministers from various major states are present in Davos advocating strongly for investments, neither Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah nor any cabinet member shows interest in representing our state on such a prominent platform.”

“Due to a confounding power-sharing arrangement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with his cabinet, including Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, are consumed by power struggles and political maneuvering, which has severely hindered Karnataka’s economy and governance,” Ashoka criticized.

“Senior leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge are focused on maintaining power in Karnataka solely to keep the Congress party afloat politically, rather than serving the people of Karnataka. This is the core of the issue,” Ashoka asserted.

At the current Davos 2025 event, which commenced on January 21, India’s ‘Team Bharat’ has presented its vision for becoming a developed nation by 2047, highlighting inclusive growth, sustainability, and technological advancement. Chief Ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and other notable figures are participating in the discussions.

The Karnataka government is preparing for the Global Investors Meet scheduled from February 11 to 14 in Bengaluru, which is regarded as a flagship initiative of the Congress-led state government aimed at attracting global investors.

A delegation led by Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil met Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday at the Steel Ministry office in New Delhi to extend an invitation for the forthcoming Global Investors’ Meet in Bengaluru. The team included Selvakumar, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department, Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner, and other officials.

The Karnataka delegation, under the leadership of M.B. Patil, will also engage with industrialists based in Delhi on Wednesday evening (January 22) to explore investment opportunities and highlight the state's advantages. This meeting is part of the Delhi Roadshow for the upcoming Global Investors Meet - Invest Karnataka 25. Key officials from the Industries Department will be present, as confirmed by an official statement from the Large and Medium ministry.
