Bengaluru, April 2 (NationPress) G. Parameshwara, the Home Minister of Karnataka, stated on Thursday that the Karnataka Police have excelled in fostering an environment of peace and harmony throughout the state, gaining acclaim as one of the premier police forces in the nation.

This announcement was made during the celebrations of Police Flag Day and the Chief Minister’s Medal award ceremony at the KSRP Parade Ground in Koramangala, Bengaluru, where he acknowledged the achievements of the medal recipients.

He explained that Police Flag Day commemorates the implementation of the Police Act on April 2, 1965, which helped to unify and enhance the discipline of the state’s police force.

Parameshwara highlighted the relentless efforts of the police in maintaining law and order and noted their success in this regard. According to the India Justice Report, Karnataka is recognized as the top state in the country for delivering justice, with particular appreciation for the police department's contributions to this achievement.

He also pointed out that the Union Home Ministry has honored the Kavital Police Station in Raichur district as the third-best police station in India, expressing optimism that all police stations in the state would aim for similar excellence.

Despite facing daily challenges, Parameshwara asserted that the government, under the Chief Minister's leadership, has successfully kept the state peaceful for the last three years. He emphasized that a tranquil environment attracts investors, crediting the police for their crucial role in maintaining such conditions.

He commended the police personnel for their effectiveness and quick response in crime detection while upholding departmental integrity.

Parameshwara reiterated the government's commitment to dismantling the state’s drug network, aligning with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s vision of creating a drug-free Karnataka. He reported that narcotics valued at thousands of crores have been seized over the past three years, with stringent actions taken against offenders.

Addressing the rising threat of cybercrime, he mentioned that Karnataka was the first state in India to set up a Cyber Command Unit and appoint a Director General-level officer to lead it, which has significantly curbed cyber offenses.

On the subject of national security, Parameshwara noted that while the Union Home Minister has proclaimed the nation Naxal-free, Karnataka achieved this status years prior by establishing an Anti-Naxal Force.

He stressed the importance of continuous training at all levels to adapt to modern policing challenges.

Moreover, Parameshwara indicated that modern recruitment and transfer methods will be implemented within the police force. The Chief Minister has allocated budget provisions for the recruitment of 8,000 Constables and 600 PSIs, and announced the establishment of a permanent Police Recruitment Board.

Further reforms in the police department are anticipated in the near future.
