Mangaluru (Karnataka), April 25 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police took action on Friday by filing an FIR and initiating a manhunt for the individual who allegedly posted a message on social media defending the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
The controversial post, attributed to the username 'Nicchu Mangaluru', emerged shortly after the attack. An FIR was lodged by Satish Kumar, a resident of Ullal, prompting the Ullal Police in Mangaluru city to take action.
The Konaje Police have launched a case under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), citing Sections 192 (intentionally provoking a riot) and 353(1)(B) (disseminating material that could incite public panic, potentially leading to crimes against the state).
In the post, the accused purportedly claimed that the media had overlooked a certain Chetan Singh—identified as a terrorist who reportedly asked three individuals if they were Muslims before opening fire at Palghar Railway Station in Maharashtra.
The post further suggested that had Chetan Singh been publicly executed, the recent assault in Srinagar might have been averted.
It also included an image of Chetan Singh alongside a picture of the site of the Pahalgam attack, where the terrorists allegedly verified the victims' religion before executing them.
A local Muslim youth was also killed for opposing the terrorists’ actions and attempting to protect the tourists.
Authorities stated they have obtained the image of the suspect from the Facebook post, and preliminary investigations suggest that the individual resides in the Konaje area of Mangaluru.
This Facebook post has sparked significant outrage on social media, with users calling for prompt action against the individual responsible.
In a related development, the Karnataka Police had previously filed an FIR against the BJP's IT Cell over a social media post implying that terror attacks in Kashmir coincide with Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi's travels abroad.
The complaint originated from C.M. Dhananjaya, the President of the Legal and Human Rights Cell of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), and the FIR was lodged at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru.
The complaint alleges that the post could disrupt societal harmony and incite animosity among communities, asserting that the statement was designed to tarnish LoP Gandhi’s reputation and was based on misleading information.
