Bengaluru, May 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has communicated to the Governing Council of the Niti Aayog that Karnataka perceives its advancement as intertwined with the growth of India. Although CM Siddaramaiah was unable to attend the meeting, he expressed his views on Bharat@2047 with the Governing Council of NITI Aayog on Saturday, as stated by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
CM Siddaramaiah remarked: "Though I cannot be present at this pivotal meeting, I take pride in sharing my insights on the crucial topic of India in 2047 and Karnataka's contribution to nation building. India @2047 should not merely be a slogan; it should be seen as a challenge and a call to action for us all. It is a challenge to bridge the gaps of inequality and a call to unite as a federation of empowered states. The path to India @2047 must be paved with the visions, strengths, and aspirations of every state, from the majestic Himalayas to the banks of the Ganga and the plains of Kaveri.
“We are eager to collaborate with the Union government and NITI Aayog in codifying and disseminating our best practices, creating toolkits, and co-developing frameworks that align with the national vision of Bharat @2047.
"Let us rise together, from policy to people, from guarantees to growth, from Karnataka to a confident and compassionate India," he stated.
Siddaramaiah emphasized that Karnataka approaches this national vision with both humility and determination. We see our growth in India’s growth and in the progress of every Indian state. We believe that a robust Union can only arise from strong, equitable, and empowered states. Therefore, let us forge a collective national vision, where the ethos of cooperative federalism is both spoken about and actively practiced, as CM Siddaramaiah noted.
“As India nears its centenary of independence, Karnataka is prepared to be a primary architect in shaping the future of India. Our vision is ambitious, inclusive, and rooted in the principles of justice, sustainability, and human dignity,” he asserted.
Karnataka's roadmap for the next 1,000 days is a declaration of intent: to lead by example, inspire through action, and govern with purpose. We strive to create a state where growth is equitable, opportunity is universal, and governance is profoundly human, he stated.
"Karnataka believes that our own progress is meaningful only when it contributes to the nation's advancement. We are ready not just to build, but to share, scale, and fortify India's development journey," the CM emphasized. As we envision a developed India by 2047, it is crucial to address the multifaceted challenges before us. These are not merely obstacles of resources or capacities; they include challenges of distribution, inclusion, governance, and resilience," he noted.
The CM further pointed out that climate change is no longer a looming threat, but a current crisis.
"Water scarcity, agricultural disruptions, escalating heatwaves, and urban pollution are already impacting livelihoods and health. We require climate-responsive planning, especially in semi-arid and ecologically sensitive areas, to ensure sustainability and resilience," CM Siddaramaiah insisted.
The journey towards 2047 cannot be strictly economic; it must also be socially harmonious and constitutionally grounded, he asserted.
Rising polarization, exclusionary narratives, and diminishing trust in institutions undermine the very foundations of our Republic. "We must reaffirm our dedication to pluralism, justice, and the rule of law," CM Siddaramaiah stated.
He highlighted that, in a time of global realignments, India must remain vigilant. Threats to territorial integrity, national security, and communal harmony necessitate a governance model that is not only effective but also resilient and inclusive. Development without security is fragile; security devoid of justice is untenable.
These challenges necessitate systemic transformation rather than mere incremental adjustments. Our responses must be rooted in evidence-based policymaking, rights-based welfare, and cooperative federalism, he maintained.
“In response to the complex challenges India faces, including social and economic inequality, digital exclusion, youth unemployment, environmental degradation, and regional disparities, Karnataka has pioneered a development model founded on justice, innovation, and inclusive growth. This framework is now recognized as the Karnataka Model of Development, which integrates constitutional morality with inclusion-driven governance,” CM Siddaramaiah stated.
Karnataka’s Guarantee Schemes signify a significant shift from welfare as mere relief to welfare as empowerment and entitlements. By allocating Rs 52,000 crore annually to these five guarantees, the state is institutionalizing dignity, economic justice, and constitutional compassion for millions of households, the CM asserted.
