Kochi, Dec 22 (NationPress) The police have encountered a significant blow in the high-profile narcotics investigation involving actor Shine Tom Chacko. A recent forensic report has failed to conclusively prove that he had used drugs, which drastically undermines the prosecution’s arguments in a case that has sparked widespread public discourse across Kerala.

The findings from the forensic analysis, released on Monday morning, did not verify drug consumption by the actor, contradicting previous police claims that Shine Tom Chacko and a companion had ingested narcotics after checking into a hotel room in Kochi.

This case gained traction after dramatic footage and reports surfaced of the actor allegedly escaping the hotel room during a surprise inspection by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF).

The event, occurring in April as part of the police’s Operation D-Hunt, ignited political and social reactions, with intense media focus and public conversations surrounding drug misuse in the film industry.

Following a tip-off regarding narcotics usage in the actor’s room, a DANSAF team arrived at a private hotel in Ernakulam North. The police later asserted that Shine Tom Chacko had leaped from a third-floor window to evade capture upon learning of the team’s approach.

After this incident, the actor was interrogated for several hours by law enforcement.

However, the new forensic report raises serious doubts about the primary allegation of drug use, undermining the narrative constructed by investigators.

Previously, Shine Tom Chacko had been associated with a hybrid cannabis case in Alappuzha, but the Excise Department clarified that he had no direct involvement with the confiscated substances.

He was summoned solely to elucidate financial dealings with Taslima, the individual arrested in that case.

During questioning, Shine asserted that he does not partake in hybrid cannabis but admitted to having previously experimented with methamphetamine.

He also informed officials that he voluntarily sought treatment at a de-addiction facility, even delaying film projects as part of his recovery.

Following this, the actor was transferred to a de-addiction center under the Excise Department’s program.

He has consistently denied any drug-related transactions with Taslima, reiterating this during multiple rounds of questioning.

With the forensic report failing to back the police’s main allegation, the case is likely to undergo more rigorous legal scrutiny in the upcoming days, while concerns arise over investigative shortcomings in a matter that has drawn significant public interest.
