Thrissur, June 6 (NationPress) - The father of Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko tragically passed away when their car, en route to Bengaluru, collided with a lorry near Dharmapuri close to Salem on Friday.
The vehicle carried Chacko, his father, mother, brother, and their driver.
Sadly, Chacko's father succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital, while Chacko sustained injuries to his hands.
Fortunately, the remaining family members and the driver have been reported to be out of danger.
The family had departed in the early hours for Bengaluru for the actor's de-addiction rehabilitation.
Chacko made headlines in April after being arrested following nearly three hours of questioning under Sections 27 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
As these were bailable offences, he was released on bail, and a formal case was initiated.
During questioning, Chacko reportedly confessed to drug use after being confronted with digital evidence, including phone records and video footage of his alleged participation in rave parties in Kochi.
Subsequently, the police recorded his arrest and conducted a standard medical examination.
This isn't the first time Chacko has been embroiled in drug-related controversies.
In February, he was acquitted, alongside four female models, in a 2015 cocaine case after the prosecution failed to establish the charges.
Coincidentally, during Chacko's arrest, his parents and brother were also called in by the investigation team.
They had consented to take the actor for de-addiction treatment.
In April, Chacko was implicated by a detained female drug peddler who claimed to have provided drugs to him and fellow actor Sreenath Bhasi.
