Following this, the Uttarakhand Police acted swiftly in the matter.
In an official update, the police announced that an FIR was registered at the Vikasnagar Police Station against the accused Sanjay Yadav and another individual under Sections 117(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The update further stated: "The accused, Sanjay Yadav, has been detained and the necessary legal proceedings are being initiated; he will be remanded to jail."
In response to this incident and similar recent attacks, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah noted in a separate post on X: "These recent spate of assaults, including incidents in Himachal Pradesh, are intolerable and need to cease. It is unacceptable to claim that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India while our people live in fear elsewhere. My government will intervene wherever necessary to prevent such occurrences from happening again."
