Has Kavitha Unveiled a New Political Party in Telangana?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Jan 5 (NationPress) Kalvakuntla Kavitha became emotional during her final address in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday, announcing that Telangana Jagruthi, the organization she leads, is set to transform into a political party.
The daughter of former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) claimed she faced significant humiliation within the party.
Kavitha, who left BRS following her suspension and submitted her resignation from the Legislative Council in September of the previous year, delivered her final remarks in the chamber. She requested the Council Chairman to acknowledge her resignation.
Initially launched during the Telangana movement, Telangana Jagruthi will now evolve into a political entity, she revealed.
Expressing her determination, she promised to return to the Legislature as a formidable political influence. “A new political platform is emerging in the State, dedicated to students, the unemployed, and all other groups,” she stated.
Urging the public for their support, she mentioned that she severed ties with her paternal home due to the humiliation she endured.
Kavitha announced that Telangana Jagruthi plans to participate in the upcoming elections, asserting, “It will undoubtedly become a significant political force. I may be leaving the Legislature as an individual, but I will return as a political powerhouse.”
She accused those in proximity to her father, KCR, of conspiring against her, resulting in her political exclusion.
She also alleged that the ruling Congress party was attempting to exploit the discord within BRS.
In response to Congress leaders’ claims that her departure from BRS was due to asset disputes, she clarified that her struggle is for self-respect, not material wealth.
Kavitha recounted how restrictions began against her after she organized Bathukamma celebrations post the formation of Telangana in 2014. She stated that limitations were placed on her personal freedom.
“I contributed sincerely to the party and fulfilled every responsibility assigned to me. I was targeted for questioning issues,” she explained.
She questioned how democracy could thrive in the State when the party itself lacked internal democratic practices. “The party has utterly humiliated me and failed to support me during my battles with the ED and CBI,” she stated, referring to her arrest related to the Delhi excise policy case.
Kavitha accused the BJP of orchestrating her arrest as a form of political revenge against KCR.
She voiced concerns over corruption within the party and the government, alleging that issues ranging from the construction of the Telangana martyrs’ memorial to the establishment of district Collectorates were tainted by corruption. She noted that the Siddipet Collectorate was severely damaged in a single rainfall.
The former MP emphasized her advocacy for pensions for Telangana movement participants, claiming that BRS has consistently failed to honor the martyrs.
KCR’s daughter critiqued BRS for neglecting fundamental issues like ‘water, funds, and jobs,’ the very rallying cry of the Telangana movement.
When allegations surfaced against KCR concerning the Kaleshwaram project, she remarked that not a single prominent leader from the party defended him. “That’s why I held a press conference to address the matter and identify the corrupt individuals,” she asserted.
