Patna, Jan 21 (NationPress) A complaint has been filed against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Patna Civil Court on Monday for his alleged derogatory comments regarding the residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The controversial statement was made by Kejriwal on January 9, igniting anger among the populace of the two states. The complaint was submitted by advocate Bablu Kumar under Section 356 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS).
Kumar highlighted that the statement disrespected the dignity and feelings of individuals from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The case is set to be reviewed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on January 21. "This complaint has been initiated because Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks have wounded the sentiments of the people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh," Kumar stated.
Advocate Rishikesh Narayan Singh, who is representing the case, asserted that Kejriwal's remarks constituted a deliberate insult towards the residents of the two states. “We have approached the Patna Civil Court, seeking an apology from Kejriwal. His comments were not only inappropriate but have inflicted emotional and social distress on the people of Bihar and UP,” Singh remarked.
The controversy surrounding former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is intensifying as a total of 11 cases have been registered against him related to his alleged objectionable statements concerning the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Advocate Rishikesh Narayan Singh underscored the significant role of the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in Kejriwal’s political ascension. “The residents of Bihar and UP significantly contributed to Kejriwal’s rise as the Chief Minister of Delhi. They worked tirelessly and voted for his government. Despite their contributions, Kejriwal employed offensive and unacceptable language towards them,” Singh expressed.
He further pointed out the legal ramifications of such statements under Section 356 of the BNS. “The language utilized by Kejriwal is both indecent and offensive. Under Section 356 of the BNS, there are provisions for a possible two-year imprisonment and a monetary fine for making such statements. Kejriwal must offer an apology to the residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and to the nation as a whole,” he asserted.
The hearing for the latest complaint is set to occur in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on January 21 (Tuesday).
