New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal announced on Tuesday that he will attend the Delhi Assembly’s Privileges Committee meeting on March 6 regarding the controversial 'Fansi Ghar' (Gallows Gallery) matter, advocating for live streaming of the session to ensure transparency.

The Privileges Committee has summoned Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia to clarify the authenticity of claims surrounding the 'Fansi Ghar' issue.

In a post on X, Kejriwal stated, “Delhi is facing severe pollution, roads are damaged, garbage is piling up, and hospitals lack medications. The Assembly has called me to address the 'Fansi Ghar' issue.”

“I have formally notified the Privileges Committee of my attendance on March 6 and emphasized the need for live streaming for transparency,” he added.

Kejriwal also shared a copy of his letter to the Committee in his social media update.

In his message to the panel, he stated, “In response to the notice, I will personally appear before the Privileges Committee on 06.03.2026 at 03:00 p.m. at the designated location. My appearance does not affect my legal rights or objections, all of which are reserved.”

“To promote transparency and public accountability, I request that the Committee's proceedings be live-streamed. Please acknowledge receipt of this communication,” he noted.

This controversy dates back to 2021 when the then Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Ram Niwas Goel, claimed that chambers beneath the Assembly served as a phansi ghar during British rule.

He alleged that an underground tunnel connected the Assembly to the Red Fort, likely used by British officials to transport death row inmates for execution.

The current BJP administration in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has dismissed the previous claims made during the AAP's governance.

The BJP has asserted that the underground facilities were not gallows but merely included a service staircase utilized in the British era for delivering meals within the premises.
