Washington, Dec 19 (NationPress) The City of Kerrville in Texas has recognized Sewa International and its partner Indian American organizations for their exemplary leadership and service in response to the devastating flash floods on July 4. This acknowledgment highlights their pivotal role in both emergency efforts and long-term recovery initiatives, as stated in a recent announcement.

The formal recognition took place on December 9, facilitated by officials from Kerrville, the Kerr Economic Development Corporation, and the Kerr Together Long-Term Recovery Group. They commended Sewa International for its crucial assistance in stabilizing operations during one of the most trying crises the city faced this year.

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring remarked, "This endeavor was not merely about emergency response; it represented a ministry. Assisting others is our way of serving God, and Sewa International exemplified that spirit day after day. Their volunteers instilled hope, structure, and humanity when our community needed it the most." City representatives noted the significant visibility and impact of Sewa volunteers at the emergency location. "The multitude of yellow T-shirts was unmistakable," one official recalled, referring to the volunteers who managed traffic, coordinated logistics, and organized hundreds of community members at Tivy Antler Stadium.

"When we were overwhelmed and uncertain about managing the sheer scale of operations, Sewa intervened, bringing order, compassion, and unwavering dedication. That made all the difference," the official further elaborated.

Sewa's partner organization, the Indo-American Charity Foundation (IACF), contributed $50,000 towards flood recovery efforts. Representatives from IACF stated their fundamental principle: "We live here, we give here."

Emphasizing the collaborative nature of the response, IACF President Pankaj Rana stated, "Our response's strength stemmed from unity. Collaborating with Sewa International allowed us to eliminate silos, pool resources, and swiftly create a meaningful impact."

City officials, including leaders from Kerrville Economic Development, expressed gratitude for Sewa International's prompt and ongoing support, highlighting that numerous volunteers traveled from Houston and San Antonio, arriving within hours of the disaster.

Several individuals received recognition for their direct contributions on the ground. City leaders underscored that Sewa International USA was "among the first organizations to arrive and among the last to leave," continuing to provide support well beyond the initial emergency phase.
