Bhubaneswar, Jan 25 (NationPress) The Collector of Koraput district in Odisha has, on Sunday, rescinded his previous directive that enforced a one-day prohibition on the sale of non-vegetarian food items in light of the 77th Republic Day festivities scheduled for January 26.
In a communication sent to all Tahasildars, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and other Executive Officers, Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, the Koraput district Collector, observed that the initial ban on non-veg food sales was instituted following recommendations from the District Level Republic Day Preparatory Committee.
He also remarked that the earlier mandate issued on January 23 was withdrawn after thorough analysis.
"In reference to Collectorate Letter No. 93, dated-23.01.2026 concerning the restriction on the sale of Meat, Chicken, Fish, Egg, and other non-vegetarian food items for the 77th Republic Day Celebration, 2026 in Koraput District, and as the previous instruction was solely based on the District Level Republic Day Preparatory Committee's suggestion. After careful consideration, the aforementioned Letter No. 93 dated 23.01.2026 is hereby nullified with immediate effect,” stated the order released on Sunday.
