KTR Calls Out Congress for 'Bulldozer Regime' in Telangana
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 1 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has recently claimed that the Congress government in Telangana is operating a "bulldozer regime."
He emphasized that since Revanth Reddy took office as Chief Minister, the state has been experiencing widespread demolitions of homes and the harassment of its residents.
KTR criticized the Chief Minister for concentrating solely on demolishing houses, selling land, and promoting what he describes as a "real estate broker-style governance," rather than prioritizing the welfare of the populace.
The BRS leader alleged that numerous homes are being targeted ostensibly for the Musi project, facilitating what he believes to be a significant scam.
During the ‘Musi Dandi March’ organized for the affected residents, KTR conducted a 3.5-kilometer padayatra in Rajendranagar, engaging with and comforting victims from Haider Shah Kote and Madhu Park Ridge Apartment who are facing displacement. Thousands of locals participated in the march, voicing their concerns to him.
In a subsequent address, KTR reassured the affected families that the BRS party would staunchly support them.
He urged residents to safeguard their homes and properties for the next two years, expressing confidence that once the BRS regains power under K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s leadership, the party would ensure that no one loses their home in the name of the Musi project.
KTR alleged that despite numerous appeals from residents and families—some expressing deep concern for their children—the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy are proceeding mercilessly with evictions and intimidation.
He further criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly prioritizing the construction of a new official residence worth Rs 200 crore, despite having existing facilities, while ordinary families are being forced out of their homes.
The BRS leader claimed that since the Congress took power, house demolitions have become a primary focus across the state, citing actions in Hyderabad under the HYDRA initiative, as well as in Ramagundam, Mahabubnagar, and Khammam.
KTR alleged that the Musi project is being manipulated as a facade for large-scale financial misconduct aimed at benefiting contractors associated with the ruling party.
He noted that during the previous BRS administration, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Musi rejuvenation was developed at a cost of approximately Rs 16,000 crore without displacing a single household, including plans for roads and flyovers with minimal public disruption.
Questioning the Congress government’s stance on buffer zones, KTR highlighted that the same apartments currently facing action had been granted official permissions in the past. He inquired why there is no accountability for those who issued these approvals.
KTR also condemned the national Congress leadership, stating that while Rahul Gandhi speaks against bulldozer politics in other regions, the alleged demolitions occurring in Telangana are being overlooked.
