As part of a comprehensive effort to combat drug-related issues, Kulgam Police have seized immovable assets, including 6 shops, 5 godowns, one tin shed, and one plinth located in Village Manigam. These properties belong to the infamous drug trafficker Mohd Ashraf Khanday, son of Gh. Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Nipora, Kulgam, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Qazigund.
This action was executed under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, following the necessary legal procedures. The properties have been established as proceeds of crime, acquired through illegal drug trafficking activities and are directly associated with drug peddling operations.
The accused is also implicated in FIR No 196/2024 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act, filed at the respective police station. The market value of the seized property is approximately ₹1.5 crore.

SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, IPS, emphasized that Kulgam Police has implemented a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and related activities. He cautioned that anyone engaged in drug peddling, financing, harboring offenders, or creating support networks for the narcotics trade will face severe legal repercussions, including property attachment, financial investigations, and prosecution under stringent laws.
He further reiterated that drug traffickers must realize that their illegal assets will be identified, seized, and dismantled, assuring that no one will be exempt under the law. He also urged the community to work with the police, share information, and assist in protecting the youth and society from the devastating effects of drugs.
