Ladki Bahin Yojana: December Payments to be Released Post Winter Session's End, Confirms CM Fadnavis

Nagpur, Dec 19 (NationPress) On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed in the Assembly that the state government intends to provide the financial aid amount under the prominent Ladki Bahin Yojana to women beneficiaries after the Winter Session wraps up on December 21.

As the MahaYuti government prepares for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November 20, 2024, it has already credited Rs 7,500 (Rs 1,500 monthly) from July through November to the accounts of 2.34 crore women beneficiaries.

The MahaYuti's election manifesto pledged to raise the monthly support from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100. However, the Chief Minister did not clarify whether the beneficiaries would receive Rs 2,100 for December.

Additionally, CM Fadnavis dismissed rumors regarding the potential discontinuation of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, asserting that it will persist into the future without introducing new eligibility criteria.

"There should not be any doubt. The government will honor its commitments and continue the schemes that were initiated. None of the programs will be terminated. The cherished sisters (Ladki Bahin) who cast their votes for MahaYuti in the Assembly elections will receive their December assistance following the conclusion of the current Winter Session,” he stated.

He also rejected speculation about reducing the number of women beneficiaries under the Ladki Bahin scheme.

"The government has learned that an individual exploited the Ladki Bahin Yojana by opening nine new bank accounts. How can we consider someone who deprives eligible women of their benefits as 'Ladka Bhau' (beloved brother)?" he questioned.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the election promises made to youth, farmers, senior citizens, and the underprivileged will be realized.

Fadnavis' announcement regarding the December aid payment under the Ladki Bahin Yojana followed the government's allocation of Rs 2,155 crore for the Women and Child Development Department in the supplementary budget of Rs 35,000 crore presented in the state legislature on Monday.

The government has set aside Rs 1,400 crore specifically for the Ladki Bahin Yojana within these supplementary demands.
