Mumbai, Jan 16 (NationPress) The government of Maharashtra has given the green light for the distribution of Rs 3,690 crore aimed at transferring Rs 1,500 to each beneficiary for the month of January, directly into the bank accounts of 2.46 crore beneficiaries under the Ladki Bahin Yojana.

According to Aditi Tatkare, the Minister of Women and Child Welfare, "The January installment will be credited directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts prior to Republic Day (January 26)."

She mentioned that the state government has already completed the transfer of the monthly installment of Rs 1,500 for the months of July to December.

The minister clarified that the state is not initiating any investigation into the beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana.

“No modifications have been made to government policies. We are merely addressing complaints lodged with local government offices,” emphasized Aditi Tatkare.

Furthermore, she stated: "Applications will not undergo general scrutiny unless a complaint is made. Women with an income exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh, those owning four-wheelers, and women involved in inter-state marriages will be ineligible. Additionally, discrepancies between names on Aadhaar cards and bank accounts that come to our attention will also render the concerned woman ineligible.”

As per Aditi Tatkare, the Women and Child Welfare Department has received five categories of complaints concerning the Ladki Bahin Yojana.

"We will investigate these complaints. Some have originated from local authorities, while others are from beneficiaries stating they no longer qualify for the scheme. Applications that have complaints will be verified, but there will be no alterations to the original government resolution,” she noted.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed rumors suggesting the termination of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, asserting that it will persist in the future without any new eligibility criteria.

"There should be no uncertainty. The government will uphold its promises and continue with the launched schemes. None will be discontinued," he asserted.

Fadnavis also refuted claims that the number of women beneficiaries would decrease, stating that the government will ensure that only eligible women receive the monthly support.
