Maha CM Promises Continued Support for Ladki Bahin Yojana

Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, announced on Thursday that the state administration will continue the execution of the flagship Ladki Bahin Yojana and is dedicated to keeping its promise of increasing monthly financial support to Rs 2,100 from the current Rs 1,500.

During his first press briefing since assuming the Chief Minister's role at Mantralaya, Fadnavis stated that the government would assess whether the financial assistance under the Ladki Bahin Yojana has been distributed to individuals who do not meet the specified criteria.

He also indicated that the administration will prioritize fulfilling a range of commitments made to the populace ahead of the state assembly elections. The government has allocated Rs 46,000 crore for the Ladki Bahin Yojana in the 2024-25 budget, and in November, it deposited Rs 7,500 (covering July to November) into the accounts of over 2.34 crore eligible women beneficiaries.

Fadnavis assured that other welfare and development initiatives introduced will continue without interruption.

“I want to assure the people that Maharashtra will have a people-oriented government, a government that will unite all communities. Challenges arise, but we will move forward, overcoming these obstacles. I ask for your support in these efforts. I want to reassure the 14 crore citizens of Maharashtra that this government will work transparently and for the benefit of the people,” he stated.

Fadnavis emphasized that prioritizing the interlinking of rivers and accelerating the Jalyukt Shivar Yojana will be central to achieving a drought-free Maharashtra.

He mentioned that despite the MahaYuti coalition achieving a historic victory, the government will ensure that the opposition's voices are not stifled.

“We will not evaluate opponents based on their numbers. We do not aspire to engage in a politics of change; we aim to pursue a politics that demonstrates change. We will not resort to vindictive politics. If the opposition raises legitimate issues, the government will respect them and respond constructively. We anticipate five years of a completely stable government. The public has granted us a majority, and they expect Maharashtra to have a stable administration. The challenges faced until 2022 should not recur,” he remarked.

Fadnavis refuted media claims regarding rifts with Eknath Shinde, asserting that he joined the Cabinet as the Deputy Chief Minister as a gesture of respect to his request.

“Even with the change in roles, the government's direction remains consistent. There will be effective coordination among the MahaYuti partners,” he asserted.

He commended Eknath Shinde for leading a dynamic government for the past two and a half years.

“In this duration, Maharashtra has accelerated its development trajectory. The state will not halt now but will reach new heights. Maharashtra will maintain its leadership across all sectors. The state has reclaimed its top position in attracting foreign direct investment, surpassing Gujarat and Karnataka,” stated Fadnavis.

“In our first cabinet meeting, we conveyed to the officials that when Eknath Shinde and I initially took office, it felt like a 50-over match. Following Ajit Pawar's joining of MahaYuti, it became a 20-20 match. Now, we are engaged in a test match, and the state must advance various ongoing and upcoming initiatives,” he concluded.
