Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini: Lord Ram is India's Core, Unveils New Rural Employment Initiative
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 26 (NationPress) Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, emphasized on Wednesday that Lord Ram embodies the essence of India, symbolizing its moral core and foundational civilization. This statement was made while he elucidated the aims and framework of a new initiative aimed at rural employment during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
He expressed disappointment at the Congress party's apparent disdain for the revered name of Lord Ram, accusing them of historically opposing its invocation and even objecting to the Ram Setu project.
"The Congress is anti-Ram," he asserted, pointing out that rather than engaging in constructive debates within the House, the Opposition prefers to mislead the public outside. He called for a motion of censure regarding this behavior.
During this session, the Chief Minister addressed a proposal introduced by MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap about the Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G Ram G).
CM Saini highlighted that previously, members were forcibly removed from the House during the Opposition's rule, but claimed that under the current administration, the Assembly's operations have significantly improved.
"Currently, there is no hostility towards anyone. Every member's voice is valued, and the Speaker ensures ample time for all. Yet, Opposition members continue to avoid participating in discussions," he stated.
He further accused the Congress party of displaying animosity towards the name of Lord Ram and of choosing not to attend discussions on the proposal.
The Chief Minister clarified that the initiative aims to uplift the economically disadvantaged and expand job prospects in rural areas.
Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) framework has been enhanced in Haryana through the Viksit Bharat initiative.
This initiative has increased the workdays cap from 100 to 125 days, aiming to provide more employment for rural workers.
However, he alleged that the Congress has been disseminating misinformation among the workforce regarding this scheme.
CM Saini pointed out that during the Congress's tenure, MGNREGA's scope was limited, whereas the new initiative broadens the range of permissible works, thereby ensuring greater job opportunities.
He also mentioned that when Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited flood-affected regions in Punjab, MGNREGA workers reported that they had completed their work but had not received their payments.
Following subsequent social audits that uncovered several irregularities, reforms were implemented to enhance transparency, broaden work opportunities, and improve worker benefits.
Moreover, he stated that not only has the number of workdays increased, but the types of work available have also expanded to strengthen livelihoods in rural communities.
Addressing the Opposition, CM Saini claimed that when new changes were introduced, there were attempts to confuse the workforce.
He also referred to recent protests that raised concerns about workers' rights and questioned the validity of such claims.
