Bhopal, July 6 (NationPress) A disturbing incident involving a suspected human sacrifice has rocked Tikamgarh district in Madhya Pradesh following the discovery of a decapitated body of a 32-year-old man near a religious site in Vijaypur village on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Akhilesh Kushwaha, was found with his head and torso positioned separately near the “Godbaba Chabutra”, a local worship area.
This appalling crime occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chandera police station. According to police reports, the body was uncovered around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Senior officials from Jatara, who are overseeing the investigation, confirmed the presence of ritualistic items—such as a flag, lemon, coconut, incense sticks, and a chillum—located near the severed head. These discoveries have prompted authorities to consider the killing as potentially linked to human sacrifice.
“The matter is under investigation,” a senior police official stated, choosing not to provide further details.
Kushwaha, a resident of Satguwa village, reportedly lived in a farmhouse close to Vijaypur. His body was found not far from his home. Police sources revealed that he had left home on Saturday afternoon to collect milk but never returned.
In a tragic twist, his father, Gola Kushwaha, had died earlier that same day.
Authorities have registered a murder case against unidentified suspects and have summoned a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team to examine the crime scene.
A dog squad has also been deployed to aid the investigation, and statements from villagers and family members are being collected.
Local leaders, including the representative of Satgawa Panchayat, are calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry, citing the gruesome nature of the crime and demanding quick justice. They have threatened public protests if no significant progress is made in ten days. The body has been dispatched for a post-mortem.
Authorities are investigating various angles, including the potential for occult practices. The incident has raised alarms about superstitious rituals in rural Madhya Pradesh.
