Datia, March 31 (NationPress) In an alarming event that has rattled the community of Datia, a man named Kallu Kushwaha was fatally shot by unknown attackers on Tuesday morning at Sevda Chungi (commonly referred to as Chhota Bus Stand) within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines Police Station.

While some reports indicate that he was a BJP corporator, this has not been verified by either the party or law enforcement.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 AM as Kushwaha was heading home after attending prayers at a nearby Hanuman Temple. He was ambushed by 5 to 6 attackers who had been lying in wait, and they opened fire without hesitation. Kushwaha suffered multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following the attack, the assailants intimidated eyewitnesses before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

This shocking murder in a crowded public area during the morning has instilled fear among local inhabitants.

Reports suggest that Kushwaha’s body remained on the street for nearly half an hour awaiting police response, despite the proximity of a police outpost.

This delay has incited frustration and raised concerns regarding the security measures in place. In response to the incident, outraged family members and community members gathered at the Kotwali Police Station to demand the apprehension of the perpetrators.

The police were eventually able to placate the demonstrators, promising that the suspects would be brought to justice swiftly.

Authorities speculate that the motive behind the murder may stem from an ongoing personal feud. However, they have yet to clarify the number of individuals involved in the attack. According to police statements, the investigation is ongoing. Reports indicate that Kushwaha had a prior criminal record, having been convicted in a murder case and released on bail just four months prior. Some sources also mention that he was out for a morning jog when the incident took place.

A police spokesperson informed IANS that while the exact motive remains unconfirmed, initial inquiries suggest that personal rivalry may be a significant factor. A manhunt has commenced, with senior officials assuring that the culprits will be apprehended shortly.

Law enforcement remarked, “We have filed a case and our teams are exploring all potential angles, including past conflicts. The culprits will not evade capture. We are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting leads from the vicinity.”

It is worth noting that the Datia court had previously sentenced six individuals, including Kallu Kushwaha, to life imprisonment for the murder of former councillor Bal Kishan Kushwaha. Kallu Kushwaha had been released on bail from the High Court just four months ago.

This incident comes at a time when the Datia police had recently intensified patrols throughout the district on March 30, claiming to have apprehended 66 fugitives, including 10 individuals with outstanding warrants.
