Bhopal, March 10 (NationPress) Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating road incident when a speeding 20-wheeled truck ran over them on the Gadarwara-Tendukheda road, located within the jurisdiction of Gadarwara police station in Narsinghpur district (approximately 200 km east of Bhopal).
The deceased were returning home on a motorcycle after a spiritual visit to the Narmada when the truck struck them.
According to law enforcement reports, one victim was trapped beneath the wheels of the truck, while the other was dragged for a significant distance.
The victims, identified as Deepak (26), son of Komal Prasad Dhanuk, and Abhishek (25), son of Narendra Dhanuk, were the primary earners for their families, both working as laborers.
Expressing deep sorrow over this tragedy, the Chief Minister of the state announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased.
"Based on the received information, both deceased individuals were the only sons in their households, depending on labor for their livelihoods. Their untimely passing has left their families in deep mourning and financial hardship. In this trying time, we extend our deepest condolences to the grieving families. The district administration has quickly offered immediate financial aid, along with an extra Rs 2 lakh each from the Chief Minister's discretionary fund to assist the bereaved families," expressed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on his X handle.
Following the incident, police, assisted by local residents, retrieved the bodies and transported one to Gadarwara hospital, from which he was referred to the district hospital but unfortunately did not survive.
In response to the incident, villagers expressed their outrage by staging a protest with the deceased's bodies outside Gadarwara hospital, chanting slogans against the police for their inaction regarding speeding heavy vehicles, while also demanding financial support for the victims' families.
The villagers added that Deepak is survived by his wife, a six-month-old daughter, two sisters, and an elderly mother. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the incident, abandoning the vehicle.
