Nagpur, Dec 10 (NationPress) Maharshtra's Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar has issued directives for the administration to formulate a detailed plan aimed at improving health services across the state. This plan will particularly focus on bolstering health sub-centres that cater to the population, transitioning to referral hospitals.
During a meeting to assess the ongoing construction of Health Department facilities, Minister Abitkar stressed the importance of utilizing the buildings developed under the National Health Mission for patient care.
He stated, "Health institutions must be upgraded to meet the growing demand. A thorough review of the budgets allocated for these institutions is essential. There will be no compromises regarding cleanliness, nutrition provided to patients, or staffing levels in hospitals," he emphasized.
Abitkar demanded strict measures to ensure cleanliness, insisting that contracted personnel responsible for maintaining hygiene be compensated according to the Minimum Wages Act. He warned that contractors who halt work or engage in unethical practices should face blacklisting, and actions should be taken against any negligent officials.
He urged the expedited completion of the Thane General Hospital to ensure it promptly serves patients.
The meeting also reviewed various health facilities including the Women's Hospital in Sangamner (District Nagar), Sub-District Hospital, Jivati Rural Hospital (District Chandrapur), Daga Hospital, Nagpur, and several Primary Health Centres across the region.
Moreover, Minister Abitkar committed to enhancing the management of health institutions, advancing hospital infrastructure and cleanliness, and improving access to significant government health initiatives throughout Maharashtra.
He mandated improvements in hygiene and food quality within hospitals, instituting rigorous checks on these aspects. Notably, a statewide mechanical linen washing service will be introduced for 593 government hospitals to guarantee sterilized and infection-free bedding.
He also proposed the launch of an online platform for monitoring construction projects and an expansion of the e-Sushrut Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
