Kolkata, April 26 (NationPress) - On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled a compensation package of Rs 10 lakhs for the families of each of the three tourists from West Bengal who lost their lives in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

In addition to the relatives of the three deceased tourists, identified as Bitan Adhikari, Sameer Guha, and Manish Ranjan, the family of Havaldar Jhantu Ali Sheikh, a paratrooper who was martyred during a terrorist ambush in the Basantgarh region of Udhampur district earlier this week, will also receive a one-time compensation of Rs 10 lakhs from the state government.

Out of the total compensation, Rs 50,000 will be allocated to the widows, while the remaining Rs 50,000 will go to the parents of the victims.

Furthermore, Mamata Banerjee mentioned that the parents of Bitan Adhikari, who resided in Kolkata, would be granted a monthly pension of Rs 10,000.

Bitan Adhikari had been living in Florida, USA, with his wife Sohini and son Hridan. Sohini is also employed in Florida.

Among the other victims, Sameer Guha, who hailed from the Sakher Bazar area of Behala in Kolkata, was a central government employee.

Manish Ranjan Mishra, originally from Jhalda in Purulia district of West Bengal, served as an officer with the Central Intelligence Bureau. He was stationed in Hyderabad, where he lived with his wife, son, and daughter.

Havaldar Jhantu Ali Sheikh, a member of the 6th Battalion of Para Special Forces, was from Tehatta in Nadia district, West Bengal. He is survived by his wife Jhuma and their two children, Tanvir and Rehana. The family resided at the staff quarters in Agra Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh.
