Gurugram, March 23 (NationPress) A special team from the Gurugram police's crime branch has apprehended a man suspected of murdering his wife following a dispute regarding their return home for the Holi festival, according to police reports.
The suspect has been identified as Ankit, originally from Uttar Pradesh.
On March 7, the Kheri Daula police station received a call indicating that a room in Bhangarola village was locked and emitting a foul odor.
Upon arrival, the police discovered the landlord was already present at the scene.
In the landlord's presence, the officers forced open the locked room, uncovering the body of a woman lying on the ground.
The police then conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene with the assistance of fingerprint and dog squad teams.
The landlord provided a written complaint stating that Deepak and Renu had been residing in the rented space as a married couple for approximately seven to eight months.
The complainant noted that on March 2, Ankit, Deepak's maternal cousin, had visited their room.
When he noticed the room was locked on March 3, he assumed they had gone back to their hometown.
However, on March 7, as a foul smell emanated from the room, he alerted the police, who subsequently forced entry and discovered Renu's body.
The complainant suspects that both Deepak and Ankit were involved in Renu's death.
A case was registered at Kherki Daula police station based on this complaint.
During the investigation, the police captured the suspect, Ankit, in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the suspect's actual name is Ankit, but he had introduced himself as Deepak to the landlord.
"The accused admitted that a dispute arose concerning their plans to return home for Holi. Following this, he strangled his wife with a scarf, locked the room, and fled to evade police capture," stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
