Gurugram, April 16 (NationPress) A man has been apprehended for the alleged murder of his 10-year-old sister-in-law, whom he strangled in a bid to retaliate against his in-laws, according to police reports.

The suspect, identified as Mohit Kumar (24), hails from Munger, Bihar.

Police revealed that a complaint regarding the disappearance of his daughter, Sania, was filed at the Palam Vihar Police Station in Gurugram on April 12.

In the course of their investigation, the police analyzed CCTV footage and endeavored to locate the missing girl through various means.

Authorities interrogated the family and acquaintances of the girl to gather more details, during which it was discovered that the deceased's elder sister had fled her marital home due to domestic disputes.

Suspecting Kumar's participation in the incident, the police apprehended him in Bajghera, Gurugram, on Tuesday.

Upon questioning, Kumar admitted to the crime.

He stated that he married the complainant's elder daughter approximately six years ago and they share a child.

Kumar disclosed to the police: "After some time, my wife began residing with her parents and refused to return to me. I approached my in-laws, but they ignored my concerns."

"Feeling humiliated, Kumar attempted to strangle his father-in-law but was unsuccessful," stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram Police.

On April 12, the suspect lured his sister-in-law to his room in Bajghera and strangled her to death during the night, according to the spokesperson.

Kumar then concealed the body in a plastic bag along with a shawl and discarded it in a drain in Bajghera, police reported.

Following the interrogation, the police team retrieved the body from the drain in Bajghera with assistance from the State Disaster Response Force.

The police subsequently added murder charges to the missing person report filed at the Palam Vihar police station in Gurugram.
