Patna, Feb 18 (NationPress) In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Bihar’s Bhagalpur, local Manjusha artists have produced exquisite handmade paintings to celebrate his arrival and emphasize the area’s ancient heritage, spiritual importance, and cultural pride.

Historically referred to as Anga Pradesh (as noted in the Mahabharata), Bhagalpur is renowned for its traditional Manjusha paintings, which possess a Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Celebrated Manjusha artist Kaushal Kishore has crafted special pieces that depict the rich historical and religious sites of Bhagalpur, including the Ajgaibinath Temple in Sultanganj, a significant pilgrimage destination for devotees of Lord Shiva, as well as the under-construction bridge over the Ganges, linking Sultanganj to Khagaria at Aguwani Ghat.

Kaushal Kishore remarked: "We have created this distinctive Manjusha painting to welcome our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bhagalpur. The artwork illustrates the Ajgaibinath Temple and other notable landmarks, honoring the region’s profound cultural and historical heritage."

The Ajgaibinath Temple, situated along the banks of the Ganga River, holds great religious importance. Pilgrims gather Ganga Jal (sacred water) from this location and journey to Deoghar to offer it to Lord Shiva’s Jyotirlinga.

With PM Modi’s imminent visit, Bhagalpur’s traditional arts and heritage sites are poised to attract national attention, further enhancing Manjusha art and regional tourism.

Kaushal Kishore and his team have also spotlighted various vital aspects of Bhagalpur’s heritage and development, including the Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary – home to the endangered Gangetic River Dolphin, Katarni Paddy – a distinctive aromatic rice variety cultivated in Bhagalpur, Bhagalpuri Silk, a globally recognized silk fabric produced in the region, the GI-tagged Jardalu mango variety unique to Bhagalpur, the Kahalgaon Thermal Power Plant, a key power generation facility, Pirpainti's New Coal Block, Vikramshila Buddhist Mahavihara, Bateshwar Nath Temple, Kataria Rail Bridge, Garuda Breeding Sanctuary, the Greenfield Airport in Bhagalpur, and the Inland Waterways Project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Bhagalpur and unveil the latest installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi for farmers.

Manjusha artist Kaushal Kishore added: “Our paintings reflect Bhagalpur’s rich history and the significant developments allocated in the recent and forthcoming Union Budgets. This artwork is a tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
