Key Takeaways
Mehsana, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Mehsana General Hospital situated in Gujarat celebrated the 77th Republic Day by launching a significant public health campaign. This initiative led to the accomplishment of 268 successful minor surgeries, surpassing the initial goal of 77 procedures.
Doctors, paramedical personnel, and hospital management collaborated to ensure a focused approach towards patient care.
Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Gopi Patel, the program spanned five operating theatres within the hospital.
A dedicated team of over 10 surgeons and nearly 100 healthcare workers, including nursing and paramedical staff, worked tirelessly throughout the day to facilitate the surgeries.
The surgeries addressed numerous conditions such as ear lobe repair, elongated ear piercing corrections, hernia, lipoma, cysts, boils, warts, and cataract-related eye operations.
Prior to the surgeries, each patient underwent a thorough medical examination and necessary tests. The hospital also provided post-operative care, including refreshments and meals for patients.
Moreover, patients received medicines and first-aid kits as part of their discharge procedure.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, each patient was also given a sapling and a jute bag upon discharge.
A total of 268 patients benefitted from this health camp.
In an interview with IANS, Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak stated that the initiative was designed to coincide with Republic Day and was initially aimed at performing 77 minor surgeries.
“We conducted careful examinations for minor surgeries related to the eye, ear, and mouth, and the procedures were executed by qualified doctors. Patients were also given medicines and first-aid kits,” he mentioned.
He further emphasized that such initiatives showcase the commitment of both the central and state governments to patient care and public welfare.
On this occasion, Nayak inaugurated a medical van named the ‘Matru Rath’, a pilot project at the hospital. This vehicle, donated with the assistance of the Falcon Group, will be utilized for health check-ups of pregnant and lactating mothers.
“The van will travel to every village, providing check-ups and subsequent medicines to mothers and children, with an emphasis on early detection of health issues,” he remarked.
The Matru Rath will be operated by Gayatri Parivar, Lakhvad.
State-level minister Pravin Mali, Mehsana MP Haribhai Patel, and Mehsana MLA Mukeshbhai Patel were also present at the event.
Nayak mentioned that similar camps will be organized in the future in accordance with the Prime Minister's vision.
