Los Angeles, Oct 18 (NationPress) Acclaimed Hollywood director Michael Mann, renowned for his epic historical drama war film ‘The Last of the Mohicans’, remains neutral regarding AI as the Hollywood community grapples with this groundbreaking technology.
In fact, it appears he will be testing its waters in his forthcoming film ‘Heat 2’, according to reports from ‘Variety’.
Discussing this, he stated, “I don’t engage with technology without purpose. When I have a dramatic or aesthetic reason for it, I delve into what I require.”
Referring to the much-anticipated sequel, he mentioned, “Aging and de-aging might play a crucial role in the next film,” during a comprehensive masterclass held last Friday, which is expected to begin filming next summer.
As reported by ‘Variety’, Mann, who recently received the Lumiere Award from Isabelle Huppert, also highlighted that ‘Heat 2’ has transitioned from Warner Bros. to Amazon MGM-owned United Artists, with Scott Stuber as the producer.
“It’s an expensive film to produce, but it must be crafted at the right scale,” Mann remarked. “Filming will take place in Chicago, Los Angeles, Paraguay, and possibly some segments in Singapore.”
“Filmmakers often set budgets based on costs rather than greed. Had it been cheaper, I could have filmed it anywhere. The situation is intricate. I can’t delve into all the politics, but we shifted from Warner Bros. to Amazon and United Artists; it will be released in theaters across the United States, likely in around 4,000 cinemas.”
Regarding the storyline of ‘Heat 2’, Mann mentioned it would explore narratives both before and after the events of the original film.
