New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) Lieutenant General Zubin A Minwalla officially took over the role of Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff on Thursday, following his tenure as General Officer Commanding of Trishakti Corps, according to an official announcement.
He succeeds Lt Gen Vipul Shinghal, who has moved on to become the Deputy Chief of Army Staff.
Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, along with all personnel at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, extended their congratulations to the general officers and expressed best wishes for their new roles,” a statement from HD IDS shared on X.
Lt Gen Zubin Minwalla’s new position is crucial for fostering continuity in the development of Joint doctrines, enhancing integration, and promoting collaborative structures, as stated by HQ IDS.
Previously, on November 18, Major General G. Srinivas, Commandant, along with participant officers from the College of Defence Management, visited Trishakti Corps as part of a Forward Area tour.
“The delegation was briefed thoroughly on operational and logistical issues, followed by a visit to the Information and Decision Support Centre. They also engaged in a professional dialogue with Lt Gen M.R.S. Maan, General Officer Commanding, Trishakti Corps, post-briefing, which enriched their understanding of operational dynamics and strategic insights,” stated Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff on X.
The Trishakti Corps, also recognized as the Indian Army’s XXXIII Corps, is a mountain corps tasked with the defense of Sikkim and the strategically significant Siliguri Corridor.
Headquartered in Sukna, North Bengal, it operates along India’s eastern frontier, focusing on maintaining stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
On November 25, HQ IDS reported that discussions at the Doctrine and Strategy Seminar held at the Army War College in Mhow examined the influence of strategic culture on contemporary warfighting, comprehensive national power, and regional challenges. Extensive discussions on shaping India’s security perspective also occurred.
