Mumbai, Dec 22 (NationPress) Actor Mohan Kapoor, known for his role as Yusuf Khan, the compassionate father of superhero Kamala Khan in Marvel's universe, shared insights into the distinctive professional atmosphere he encountered while filming ‘Miss Marvel’. He described the international set's environment as uplifting and exceedingly disciplined.

During a conversation with Pooja Bhatt on her podcast, Mohan elaborated on the contrasts he observed while working on the first Miss Marvel. He recounted his experiences in the US, particularly noting the sight of women executing demanding technical tasks on set.

“What truly amazed me was witnessing women engaged in heavy lifting. They were maneuvering large lights, essentially lifting weights… I was taken aback, wondering if I should help! It was quite unusual for me to see such professionalism in the States. Everyone was committed to their role,” he stated.

He drew a comparison to experiences during the Covid pandemic, recalling a supermarket incident where a staff member declined to assist beyond his assigned duties.

“I had been living in an apartment and needed to stock up during Covid. When I asked a person on a ladder where to find an item, he told me to look elsewhere, saying, ‘That’s beyond my pay grade.’ His responsibility was just stocking,” he explained.

Mohan indicated that the same sense of structure was present on the film set. Due to Covid protocols reducing crew size, the shooting environment operated like a “well-oiled machine”.

“On set, everyone was synchronized. Learning on-the-job was limited due to Covid restrictions, so everyone functioned as a cohesive unit. Punctuality and efficiency were critical,” he noted.

Reflecting on the first day of shooting, he mentioned that even a one-hour delay caused by a camera malfunction was meticulously noted.

“The executive producer came with his iPad to record the reason for the delay. Every detail had to be accounted for,” Mohan remarked, emphasizing that such accountability is often lacking in India across various sectors.

“This lack of accountability is a broader issue in India,” he stated.

Ms. Marvel is the seventh series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, showcasing the journey of Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Avengers enthusiast who strives to find her place in the world after acquiring her powers.

Starring Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, the series also features Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and others.

Despite being the most experienced actor on Miss Marvel, Mohan actively sought feedback from his younger co-stars.

“In Miss Marvel, Zenobia Shroff and I were the only two with previous experience. I was the most seasoned actor there. If I felt uncertain about a scene, I would still approach the younger actors for their input,” he shared.

“Even after receiving praise, I would ask them if I performed well. I explained that my work in India shapes my understanding of dialogue and emotional delivery, which may differ from theirs,” he added.

Mohan also noted the uniqueness of his Marvel journey, having participated in three franchises: Miss Marvel, The Marvels, and Daredevil: Born Again.

“I am the only character in the Marvel universe to appear across three franchises: Miss Marvel, The Marvels, and Daredevil,” he emphasized.

Calling the experience surreal, he concluded: “When asked on the red carpet if my dream had come true, I responded that coming from India, I never imagined I would be here. I lack that audacity… But what I am doing is my dream, and I wish to remain in it.”
