Bhopal, April 10 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced on Friday that the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Campaign will be integrated with the state’s initiative ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’ (Farmer Welfare Year) to enhance water conservation strategies and uplift farmers’ livelihoods.
During a review session at his residence, Dr Yadav highlighted that the campaign is in progress throughout Madhya Pradesh, focusing on the construction of water management structures and revitalizing dried water sources through recharge methods. He pointed out that farmers are the main beneficiaries of these efforts.
“The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Campaign will significantly contribute to the goals of Krishak Kalyan Varsh. It is essential to connect these initiatives through collaborative activities and unified efforts,” the Chief Minister stated.
Recognizing the vital role of farmers, Yadav described them as the cornerstone of the state’s culture and the bedrock for a prosperous future.
“Farmers not only feed their families but also support the community at large. It is our duty to cultivate happiness and celebration in the lives of these Annadatas,” he remarked during the review.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also assessed preparations for 'Agriculture Lokarang–2026', deeming it a pivotal event under the Farmer Welfare Year initiative.
He instructed officials to ensure that the event is a vibrant tribute to farmers’ lives, customs, and agricultural heritage.
Progressive farmers should receive recognition during the event, along with information on advanced agricultural techniques, organic farming, water conservation, and crop diversification.
He also encouraged farmers to refrain from burning crop residues.
To boost engagement, the Chief Minister proposed activities like an agriculture quiz competition, where winners from each district could be awarded useful farming resources such as tractors and other incentives.
Moreover, he stressed the importance of promoting Agriculture Lokarang in rural communities and showcasing local products, handicrafts, and agriculture-related industries to help farmers connect with markets.
Yadav also directed that Agriculture Lokarang be associated with local fairs organized by urban and rural bodies to enhance outreach and participation.
“These fairs will provide an engaging platform for farmers and the public to learn about government initiatives,” he added.
Emphasizing sustainable practices, the Chief Minister stated that farmers embracing natural farming and successfully marketing such products should be honored at state events, including Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations.
