Bhopal/Gwalior, Feb 23 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh stated on Monday that the state administration is committed to implementing measures that will boost agricultural development and improve farmers' livelihoods. This includes the promotion of employment-driven and agro-processing sectors throughout the region.
Highlighting that 2026 will be recognized as 'Krishak Kalyan Varsh' in Madhya Pradesh, CM Yadav mentioned that this initiative seeks to enhance and unify the agricultural value chain, spanning from farm to factory and orchard to market.
These comments were made during a virtual address at the 'Krishi Manthan and Agricultural Technology Fair 2026' held at the agricultural university in Gwalior.
In reference to ongoing river-linking initiatives with neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, Yadav remarked that the government is focusing on increasing the production of medicinal plants and spice crops, which possess substantial potential for both domestic and international markets.
The Chief Minister also noted that a dedicated agricultural produce export policy is in the works, which will be unveiled soon to provide better market access and enhance farmers' income.
Further, CM Yadav asserted that the government will bolster research and innovation in agriculture to improve productivity, encourage crop diversification, and promote sustainable farming practices.
He stressed that advancements in technology, diversification strategies, and policy support will not only elevate agricultural output but also create efficient, market-friendly, and profitable frameworks for farmers, particularly in processing, value addition, and marketing.
The CM mentioned that the government is operating with a mission-oriented approach focused on the welfare of the poor, youth, farmers, and women, aiming for inclusive and sustainable development.
He elaborated on the concept of GYAN—representing Growth, Youth, Agriculture, and Nari empowerment—which has now been expanded to include I for Industrialization and I for Infrastructure, creating 'GYANII' as a central guiding framework for the state's development strategy.
In a separate agriculture-related event at his residence, Yadav held a conference for farmers from Ujjain, reaffirming the government's dedication to improving farmers' welfare.
He indicated that infrastructure initiatives, such as the proposed Ujjain–Jaora greenfield highway estimated at over Rs 5,017 crore, would significantly enhance connectivity and contribute to the region's economic and agricultural progress.
Yadav concluded by stating that ongoing road and infrastructure projects will be beneficial for farmers, traders, and rural communities while facilitating long-term growth and improving market access for agricultural products.
