Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) Monalisa Bhosle, famously known as the Kumbh Mela girl, is at the center of controversy as her uncle, Vijay Bhosle, claims she has been manipulated by her in-laws in Kerala.

He expressed that inter-religious unions are completely unacceptable in their family, conveying disapproval of Monalisa's decisions.

In an interview with IANS, he stated, “In our community and society, we cannot accept this. We may not be highly educated, but what happened in Kerala is utterly wrong. Our daughter went viral after her appearance at the Kumbh Mela. What did these people do? They enticed her by saying, ‘In your hometown, no one teaches acting. So, come to Kerala, and we will help you improve your acting skills and create Reels.’ They communicated this to her father.”

He further explained, “As soon as she received their call, she believed she would learn acting and engage in activities. Our daughter is quite naive. They trapped her. After ensnaring her, they took her on a tour for several days, showcasing beautiful locations in their region. We then decided to visit suddenly, as my mother was ill. They were urged to return home. Upon packing their bags into the car, instead of heading to the airport, they diverted to a police station. During this time, that man communicated something, and I struggled to comprehend their language, leading them to the police station.”

He noted that authorities informed them that Monalisa did not wish to accompany them. He remarked, “The police officer mentioned that since Monalisa is 18 years old, she can make her own decisions and does not want to go with us; hence, we should leave.”

The wedding ceremony of Monalisa Bhosle and Farman Khan gained significant attention after the couple exchanged vows on March 11, 2026, at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
