Bhopal, December 12 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh has made the decision to transfer Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Santosh Verma, who has ignited controversy with his remarks regarding Brahmin girls and the High Court, leading to public outcry.
In a recent notification from Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, it was revealed that Verma, previously serving as Deputy Secretary in the Agriculture Department, has now been reassigned to the General Administration Department (GAD).
However, it is important to note that his new role in the GAD has been temporarily suspended. The notification explicitly stated, “Santosh Verma has been relieved from the Indian Administrative Service.”
Government sources indicate that a recommendation for his removal from the IAS has been forwarded to the Centre.
This action follows a day after Verma made another contentious statement, claiming that the high court is hindering Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates from attaining positions as civil judges.
Verma serves as the president of the Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Castes and ST Officers and Employees Association, also referred to as AJJAKS.
During an AJJAKS event on Wednesday, he remarked, “It is the high court, and no one else, that blocks ST children from becoming civil judges.”
He further stated, “Only when our son becomes a civil judge will he become a high court judge. When our lineage is being destroyed, from whom will you expect justice? This is our last generation. Only we can fight this.”
Verma has faced significant backlash from Brahmin and upper-caste organizations in recent weeks, intensifying pressure on him. Various groups have accused him of repeatedly breaching constitutional standards, claiming that the government is deliberately stalling any action against him.
Previously, he had controversially suggested that reservation should remain until a Brahmin permits his daughter to marry into a non-Brahmin family. Following these remarks, leaders from both the BJP and Congress have called for his accountability.
Notably, this decision comes just a day before the Brahmin Samaj United Front has planned a significant protest, announcing their intent to demonstrate outside the chief minister's residence on December 14.
