MVA Demonstration in Nagpur Calls for Union Minister Amit Shah's Apology Over Comments on B.R. Ambedkar

Nagpur, Dec 19 (NationPress) The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra staged a loud protest march on Thursday to denounce and seek an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks about B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament.
Members from MVA, including leaders from Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (SP), assembled and participated in a lengthy procession starting from Constitution Square to the Legislature Building.
Protesters carried banners and placards, displayed images of B.R. Ambedkar, and some held copies of the Indian Constitution, voicing their anger against HM Shah and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Wearing dark blue caps, bands, or shawls emblazoned with ‘Jai Bhim’, prominent MVA figures, including SS (UBT)'s Leader of Opposition (Council) Ambadas Danve, SS (UBT) Group Leader Aditya Thackeray, CongressVijay Wadettiwar, NCP (SP) state chief Jayant R. Patil, Rohit R. Pawar, among others, vocally criticized HM Shah's comments and demanded his apology.
The MVA leaders praised B.R. Ambedkar for crafting a Constitution that ensures equal rights for all citizens and uplifts the marginalized, acknowledging his significant contributions to the oppressed classes, and vowed that “the nation will not tolerate any form of insult” towards him.
Meanwhile, Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of B.R. Ambedkar, led separate protests under the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) banner in Pune and other locations to criticize HM Shah.
Uddhav Thackeray, President of SS (UBT), along with other leaders, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove HM Shah from the Cabinet.
Prior to the march, participants paid their respects at a life-sized statue of B.R. Ambedkar by garlanding and saluting it, before proceeding to the Vidhan Bhavan, where the Winter Session is currently being held, continuing to chant slogans against the ruling BJP.
It is noteworthy that just days earlier, HM Shah made remarks regarding B.R. Ambedkar that the opposition deemed 'disrespectful', leading to widespread outrage across Maharashtra and other regions of the country.
In response, HM Shah contended that his statements were misinterpreted and accused the Congress party of being 'anti-Ambedkar' and against Dalit interests.
